Demonstrations at the FPED VI Trade Show

Over 7,000 government end-users attended this years' Force Protection Equipment Demonstration (FPED VI). Among them was IEI with live demonstrations of the eMerge Browser Managed Security Platform. A bi-annual event sponsored by the Under Secretary of Defense, Dept. of Justice, Dept. of Energy and other federal agencies, FPED VI is a venue for senior government decision makers to view commercial force protection and physical security systems and products.

"In addition to eMerge we saw continued strong interest in our stand alone and infrared wireless enabled access control systems, which have been widely used in government applications for years," said Jim Lynch, IEI’s Director of Government Markets.

IEI's activities in government sales follows this years awarding of IEI products on GSA Schedule 84 listing.  For more information on IEI’s solutions geared to government installations, click here.

Max 3 Modem Module Provides Remote Managed Access Using Standard Phone Lines

IEI’s popular Max 3 system now has capability for remote managed access using a standard telephone line. This latest release adds another level of system flexibility with an un-matched offering of communication options.

Communication options include use of an IP network, dedicated RS485, IEI’s wireless IR communication, and now through phone lines using the Max 3 Modem (part # M3M), the latest addition to the Max 3 access line of systems accessories.

While remotely managed access via dial up is an old technology, there are still many applications best served by this solution from a cost and complexity standpoint.

Here are some of the advantages of the Max 3 Modem:

  • A specific model of PC side modem is no longer required
  • Dedicated phone lines are no longer required.
  • Delays caused by phone systems will not result in a loss of communications or dropped line.
  • The Max 3 communications speed is faster resulting in less expensive long distance phone line charges while connected remotely
  • Faster Controller/Panel setup

Daylight Saving Time Reminder (DST)

In compliance with this provision in the Energy Policy Act of 2005, DST dates in the United States and Canada will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November).

All of IEI's access systems are compatible with the new 2007 daylight savings time format.  Older systems may require some action to ensure they are compliant.

Dealer Success Stories

Microbiz Security Company of San Francisco, CA has won government contracts with eMerge. After presenting an eMerge proposal for The California Transplant Donor Network facility, Microbiz was awarded the contract. “My clients love the fact that eMerge doesn’t require a dedicated PC. You can access the system on the web from anywhere,” said Roger Fortier, Microbiz Sales and Tech Support.  For the complete story click here.

Eastern new England Security, Inc. of Kennebunkport, Maine has achieved success installing eMerge into a public school system. “School administrators find this system the most user friendly. There is a short learning curve,” said Gary Leroy, President of Eastern New England Security. He said the application is expanding into the high school and will be incorporating the schools bell annunciation system into the eMerge panel to trigger the unlocking of doors when the bell goes off.
